Relief efforts for Haiti are widespread, and Signature Healthcare is lending aid in several ways.  Nurse Practitioners and one physician traveled to Haiti to provide urgently needed medical care and supplies.  Several of these employees are also of Haitian descent, and were able to communicate directly with the hardest-hit areas of the quake.

During the month of February, Signature Healthcare participated in the “Brockton Champions Haiti” fundraiser at the Shaw’s Center in Brockton, donating $10,000 to the Rotary Club Shelter Box program, which helps in the long term effort by providing 10 people in Haiti with tents and enough food for 3 months.  Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital School of Nursing students donated more than $600 to the relief effort, and employees are able to contribute via payroll deduction, and have already donated thousands to the effort.

Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital also donated 29 EKG machines (out of service due to new replacement equipment) to the International Medical Equipment Collaborative (IMEC), which is moving 40-foot containers of medical equipment for use in rebuilding Haitian healthcare.  Within 3 weeks of the Haitian earthquake, IMEC shipped five 40-foot containers of medical supplies and equipment to five hospitals. These shipments were comprised of 90 "Hospital Suites", highlighted by emergency, surgery and orthopedic equipment/supplies which were sent to hospitals and clinics in Jimani and Barahona in the Dominican Republic, and Belladare and Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Signature Healthcare continues to support our Haitian staff through prayer services and our Haitian patients with interpreter services for all healthcare needs.
