Hospital Pediatric Unit

The 12-bed pediatric unit admits patients with ailments ranging from fevers to more complicated cases, allowing patients and their families to remain in a familiar, local environment while still receiving the highest level of care. An in-house board certified pediatrician is available 24/7, overnight and on weekends.

Visiting the Hospital

Because visiting the hospital is often an intimidating time for children, Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital’s unique Child Life Program strives to make the hospital environment more familiar so the child is better able to cope with the experience. Working with all members of the hospital community, our Child Life Program provides a variety of services to meet a child’s emotional, educational and recreational needs.

Services offered through our Child Life Program include:

• Pre-admission preparation to familiarize a child and family members with surgical or medical information before a procedure takes place

   

• Bedside activities to reduce anxiety and meet emotional needs

   

• Community outreach programs including visits to local schools and hospital tours

   

• Advocacy and support services for patients as well as parents and siblings
