Interventional cardiologists use techniques such as catheter-based treatment to address structural heart disease. Interventional approaches are advantageous for their avoidance of the pain, scars and long postoperative recovery associated with surgery.
Cardiac catheterization, a minimally invasive procedure to identify problems with the heart and its valves, has been performed at Signature Brockton Hospital for decades by highly trained interventional cardiologists. The team provides around-the-clock treatment of heart attacks, using the premiere approach of primary angioplasty. National standards set a goal of opening block vessels and alleviating pain within 90 minutes of a patient’s arrival at the hospital; Signature cardiologists meet this goal virtually every time.
With the 2007 launch of the Helen Greene Cardiac Catheterization Suite, the cardiologists can quickly and efficiently treat emergent and scheduled myocardial infarction patients simultaneously.
Our interventional cardiologists also provide consultation on an outpatient basis.
