By using smaller incisions and tiny cameras, minimally invasive surgery offers the opportunity to perform operations with less trauma and pain, shorter hospital stays and faster recoveries. These techniques have grown to include more and more operations and are used by almost every specialty in surgery.

Every operating suite is equipped with digital, high definition video systems – allowing us to bring these advantages to as many patients as possible. With the support of that equipment the surgeons of Signature Healthcare continue to bring advanced minimally invasive surgery to the community. Gallbladder surgery is now being performed through just a single incision resulting in almost no scarring at all. Currently nearly 90% of elective colon surgery is done laparoscopically. Minimally invasive surgery is also used in orthopedic, thoracic and gynecologic surgery. We are even performing many kidney operations this way.
Beyond video based surgery, we are finding other ways to minimize surgical trauma. Using our state of the art cardiac catheterization suite, our vascular surgeons can often open blocked arteries in the leg without major bypass operations.
