Surgical Quality

Surgical Quality

Safety and quality are a focus throughout Signature Healthcare, but it is especially important in the Operating Rooms.

Surgery will always carry risk and operating rooms have become complicated places where we perform increasingly complex operations often on older and sicker patients.

Signature Healthcare makes patient safety and clinical excellence the focus of everything we do. Before surgery begins, patients notice our "timeout" process. Double and triple checking the patient, operation, and site of surgery, we follow a clear protocol checklist to prevent wrong site surgery. You will also notice your surgeon marking the site to further safeguard our patients.

Our dedication continues during the operation where we follow strict guidelines to reduce the risk of infection and blood clots. These steps have become the "core measures" of the operating room. Signature Healthcare has consistently achieved core measure results in the top 10% of hospitals nationally.

We track all infections and have a team dedicated to reducing these problems to the smallest number possible. Infection control measures may include screening for MRSA, isolation for high risk patients, and following available guidelines.
