Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital Among the Safest Hospitals Nationwide
Tuesday, December 22, 2020
Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital is among the top four safest hospitals in the state as recognized by The Leapfrog Group.
The hospital was awarded its 17th consecutive safety ‘A’ grade from Leapfrog, an achievement reached by only four hospitals in Massachusetts and 41 hospitals nationwide.
The hospital was also named a Top Teaching Hospital for the fourth year in a row.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety A Grade, a national distinction, recognizes a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care. The Leapfrog Top Teaching Hospital award is one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive. Signature Healthcare is one of 48 to receive the 2020 Top Teaching Hospital recognition.
“Safety is our number one priority at Signature Healthcare,” said President and CEO Kim Hollon. “Our aim is always to provide the safest care possible to our patients and our staff works diligently each day to reach our safety goals. Our 17th ‘A’ grade from Leapfrog is just as meaningful as our first. We will continue to strive to be one of the safest healthcare providers in the nation.”
“We are extremely grateful to hospital leadership and healthcare workers who have remained steadfast in prioritizing patient safety as our nation battles COVID-19,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “This ‘A’ is a testament to the care and commitment of those who work for Signature Healthcare.”
Developed under the guidance of a National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year.
